It is a great pleasure and honor indeed for me to present to you the fifth issue of IHJ 2010.

,,Hypertension; New frontiers ,,; At the outsetI express my gratituse and thanks to Ravi R Kasliwal as guest editor for his dedicated, managements & unstinted supportin procuring enormous data on different aspects of Hypertension from the stalwarts all over the world to bring out this special issue of Hypertension Naresh trehan a great visionary has tremendous contribution in bringing out this special issue .

Albert Einstein , once said, A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. we experience our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. a kind of optical delusion of consciousness this delusionis a kind of prison for us restricting us to our presonal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us our taskmust be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty .. the true value of a human being is determined primarly by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self we shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if human isto survive ,,

This current issue highlights epidemology of Hypertension , the prevalence of which has risen in India from 5% in 1940 to 25% 1990 in urban areas james eE ,Sharman and thomas H Marwick have lucidly emphasized on role of arterial stiffness evaluation in management of Hypertension beside clinical implications of Left ventricular Hypertrophy which is very well highlighted by robert M. Long . the management of Hypertension and Hypertensive crisis has been to tally revolutionized and very well discussed to reduce short term and long term outcome of Hypertension inflicted morbidity and mortality

In this focus issue there is special emphasis on the recent management &potentials of technology to overcome impending hazardsof sustained & resistsnt Hypertension
